  Joan is a God sent!! I needed my wedding dress altered and she did an awesome job! She takes the time to be sure the fit is correct and that her customers are satisfied! Thank you Alterations by Joan!

  After reading the reviews we thought of giving this alteration shop a try to our great disappointment. Joan a horrible job fixing a brand new pants for a suit. First pants we brought in to shorten the hem take in the side seams and the seat seam taken in. She made several mistakes pinning my husband's underwear to his pants while trying to set the sizing location then Joan complained she couldn't take the side seam in without great difficulty shaking her head and acting like it was too hard to do. She maintained that it was ok asking whats wrong with it. When sizing the hem she commented that maybe his legs werent the sasme length! She also made rude remarks that my husband and I should 'get a room' because we hugged and exchanged a kiss when we met up at the location out in the parking lot and apparently she was observing us. My husband is 55 we are not in the habit of standing in a parking lot making out in an inappropriate manner it was a simple hug and a kiss yet Joan made a comment about it and made us feel uncomfortable when we first went in the shop. Because Joan seemed to be reluctant to do the side seam and was skeptical that it would work we brought another matching pair that was slightly smaller a size 36 men's pants versus the size 38 that needed taking in on the sides. Now with the size 36 pants we asked her to simply do the hem and take in the seat slightly that's all that would be required. A few days later I picked up the pants assuming they would be done right so he didn't try them on took them home and I noticed that the back where the seat was slightly taken in it didn't continue up to the waistband itself and there was a bunching of fabric there as opposed to where it was clean and trim lower. My husband not wanting to go back and deal with her went to a tailor in Daytona Beach who said this is a terrible job that whoever did it was too lazy to go all the way up to the waistband and undo it and re sew it she left it half done basically and it looked like it. The tailor in Daytona Beach also showed my husband the hems that Joan had done the fact that they were done in blue thread (the pants are black by the way) and appeared be done by hand and had bunching up of tge fabric below the hem line and we're not smooth at the bottom and looked terrible. The pant is having to be redone by this tailor in Daytona so we are spending double money on work that should have been done right the first time. If the quality of her work was comensurate with her sarchasm she would get all the stars. Its hard to believe this tailor has so many good ratings when this was our experience but good ratings which is what we went by dont mean much. Perhaps this tailor does better with dresses and ladies cloths which seens to be the bulk of her work than knowing how to or caring enough to do a good job on mens clothing.
